About the Role
ORA prides itself on its supreme customer service and commitment to safety so we are looking for likeminded people who are willing to align with our Company values, to fill several trainee locomotive driver positions. These positions will be based in Dry Creek.
ORA will support you through and provide you with all the comprehensive training you need to become a successful fully Qualified Locomotive Driver. Upon completion of your training contract, which will take approximately 2 1/2 – 3 years, you will be able to operate a locomotive and provide operational support to ensure the safe and efficient working of short haul train movements throughout the Dry Creek region. You will also be provided with a very competitive pay rate which increases as you progress through the traineeship program until you become qualified, as well as many other great benefits.

ORA is looking for candidates with various backgrounds who want to build an exciting and rewarding career as a Trainee Locomotive Driver. Previous industry experience is not a requirement of this role; however, it is essential that you are able to demonstrate the following:
*Sound mechanical aptitude
*Above average numeracy and literacy skills
*Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot challenges as they arise
*Proven ability to maintain high levels of concentration for long periods of time
*Dedicated commitment to safety including working within stringent safety protocols and procedures at all times
*Ability to work a 24/7 roster including night shifts, weekends and public holidays
*The ability to work as part of a team and the rail community
*Hold an unrestricted motor vehicle licence.
As part of ORA’s recruitment and selection process, short listed applicants will be required to:
*Successfully complete and pass literacy, numeracy, mechanical comprehension and concentration testing.
*Provide a recent national criminal history check & provide recent referees
*Successfully complete and pass a Category 1 pre-employment health assessment & *Provide a Current C Class or higher Drivers Licence.
